During my work at ivi, I was responsible as a product designer for two strategically important areas Personalization and implementation of Onboarding.


For Personalization, the key metric was Retention and LTV improvement.


For Onboarding, the key metric was the improvement of User Activation, in particular the increase in conversion to view content.

My role

As the Product Designer of the ivi (Activation and Retention) who owns the on-nboarding and engament experience at ivi, I resposbled the design of new on-boardong flow experience.
In addition, I worked alongside a Researcher, a Product Manager, and a UX Copy Writer.

The launch has been released in June 2021.

Personalization

Users have the most popular and painful question, what to watch tonight? The online services provide a large catalogue of movies and TV shows, but it's still frustrating to choose. According to users' interests, ivi uses a personalization algorithm to adapt a catalogue and recommend relevant films and TV shows.


The problem is algorithm works for 10% of users who have enough data about watched, skipped, saved, liked and disliked films. The same 10% of users have awesome retention and LTV.

The task is to collect enough data about the user's interests during the first session and immediately adapt the catalogue and recommendation.

Task: To increase the amount of TV show watching, as research show that the duration of viewing and the duration of viewing and the frequency of visits to the service for TV shows is higher than for the audience watching mainly single and children's content.


Solution: Add a block to the main page where, using personalization and data-rights mechanics, we will show a selection of TV shows.
